Shopping Glossary

Basket
The basket on a online site is where the items you want to purchase are stored until you place the order. Usually you can view and edit the contents of your basket at any time while you are shopping.

Black Friday
Is a shopping day where their are lots of deals and discounts to kick off the Holiday shopping season. It occurs the day after Thanksgiving. 

Buy One Get One Free (BOGO)
This stands for deals where if you buy one item you get a second one of the same item for free.

Bar Code
The bar code is the code which the store scans when checking out.

Coupon (CPN)
Are discounts that can be used to reduce the cost of a purchase. 

Cyber Monday
Is the Monday after black Friday and it signifies the kick off of the online shopping season. 

Do Not Double (DND)
This is used for coupons which the value cannot be doubled.

Flat Rate Shipping
This is a term for one it costs one price to ship your purchase.

Free After Rebate (FAR)
This is used for discounts where you make a purchase but you recieve the full amount of the item you purchased for free after a rebate.

Free Shipping Day
Is a day about a week before Christmas where you can receive free shipping along with knowing you will get your gifts before Christmas. 

Free Standing Inserts (FSI)
These are the coupons found in the newspaper on Sundays.

Green Monday
Is the second Monday in December. The goal of Green Monday is to increase online sales in December. 

Mail In Rebate (MIR)
These are money back offers which you receive your money off discount back once you have mailed in certain information. These can take a long time.

Manufacturers Coupon
These are coupons that come from the manufacturer of a product and can be used at any store that sells the product.

No Expiration Date (NED)
Coupons and Discounts that are ongoing will have no expiration date which means that you can continue to use this saving indeffinatly.

OAS
Means a coupon is good on one purchase of any size

Smart Source (SS)
Sunday Supplement Coupons that you can find in your local or national Sunday newspaper.

+ or More
Used to descirbe an offer. It is most frequently used to say you get X amount off when you spend XXX+.
